Finite-gain LpLp stability for hybrid dynamical systems

We characterize finite gain Lp stability properties for hybrid dynamical systems. By defining a suitable concept of hybrid Lp norm, we introduce hybrid storage functions and provide sufficient Lyapunov conditions for Lp stability of hybrid systems, which cover the well-known continuous-time and discrete-time Lp stability notions as special cases. We then focus on homogeneous hybrid systems and ...

Transport in time-dependent dynamical systems: finite-time coherent sets.

We study the transport properties of nonautonomous chaotic dynamical systems over a finite-time duration. We are particularly interested in those regions that remain coherent and relatively nondispersive over finite periods of time, despite the chaotic nature of the system. We develop a novel probabilistic methodology based upon transfer operators that automatically detect maximally coherent se...

Entropy operator for continuous dynamical systems of finite topological entropy

In this paper we introduce the concept of entropy operator for continuous systems of finite topological entropy. It is shown that it generates the Kolmogorov entropy as a special case. If $phi$ is invertible then the entropy operator is bounded with the topological entropy of $phi$ as its norm.

Stability Analysis of Interconnected Hybrid Dynamical Systems

In the present paper we establish some new stability results for interconnected hybrid (resp., discontinuous) dynamical systems. Our results are phrased in terms of the qualitative properties of systems components (subsystems) and constraints imposed on the system interconnecting structure. This viewpoint makes it frequently possible to overcome diiculties encountered in the stability analysis ...

An analytic framework for identifying finite-time coherent sets in time-dependent dynamical systems

The study of transport and mixing processes in dynamical systems is particularly important for the analysis of mathematical models of physical systems. Barriers to transport, which mitigate mixing, are currently the subject of intense study. In the autonomous setting, the use of transfer operators (Perron–Frobenius operators) to identify invariant and almost-invariant sets has been particularly...
